Asian Interfaith Consultation and Temple of Understanding India chapter organised a three-day programme celebrating its 50th anniversary at Delhi Public School here.
The consultation programme was attended by representatives from Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Bahai religions who started the programme with inter-faith prayers.
Speaking on inter-faith dialogue and culture, Vice Chancellor of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Sidiq Wahid said: "We all have to concentrate on our own religions and understand the message in real senses. It will ultimately lead to inter-faith harmony as all threads are tied to one pivot."
President of Inter-faith Foundation India M M Verma stressed on the need to use the power of religion to strengthen peace at the global level.
Pro-vice Chairperson of DPS Vijay Dhar presided over the last session and members later formulated a set of recommendations to pursue in the future.
“The interests of SAARC are definitely bound together,” said Dr. Karan Singh. "We have to strive for translating the dream of European Union for SAARC."

Vice Chancellor of Jammu University Varun Sahani deliberated on the importance of recognising the importance of fellow beings. "We have to understand the worth of others. Words like Jehad used commonly without putting it in context have harmed the Muslim community and thus proved disastrous. We have to work in this direction."

The speakers during the programme also deliberated on inter-faith dialogue vis-à-vis environment and felt the need of involving the younger generation in all endeavours in this direction.
